The Church of Suffering tells you pain is virtue, rest is weakness, and your worth can be measured by your willingness to destroy yourself. Do not believe them. Their lie wears the mask of discipline.
Every day you rest when exhausted is rebellion against an industry built on compliance. The runner who stops when injured demonstrates more discipline than the one posting self-inflicted suffering and injuries to feed an algorithm!
Your body speaks. The Church of Suffering teaches you to ignore it. Discomfort signals adaptation. Pain signals damage. The devoted runner can distinguish between them instead of blindly embracing all suffering as accomplishment. Learn the difference or pay with your flesh!
Compulsive behavior called commitment. Structuring entire lives around avoiding a single missed day. Injury as moral failure. They call it discipline. It is disease!
Young athletes shamed into starvation. Runners posting infected wounds like stigmata. The streak-obsessed whose knees grind like gravel but cannot stop because stopping means admitting the streak owns them. The Church of Suffering does not care if you survive. Only that you suffer with proper form!
Humans have always run to live. Only recently have they convinced us we must nearly die to prove we are alive!
Build a practice that outlasts their trends. The Church of Suffering will call this soft. Let them. They profit from pain and call it virtue. Owe them nothing. Not your knees, not your joy, not your life!
Take rest with the same commitment you bring to runs. Listen to your body with the same attention you give to elders. Run because movement is your birthright, not because suffering is penance. The Church of Suffering built their temples on insecurity. Reduce them to ash and run through the ruins!
